From: Triptolide potentiates lung cancer cells to cisplatin-induced apoptosis by selectively inhibiting the NER activity

Fig. 2

The effect of triptolide on cisplatin-induced caspase-3 activation in various lung cancer cells. a The effect of triptolide on cisplatin-induced caspase-3 activation in A549 and HTB182 lung tumor cells. The cells were treated with triptolide (10 ng/ml for A549 and 5 ng/ml for HTB182), cisplatin (5 μM), or a combination of both triptolide and cisplatin (5 μM) for 36 h and caspase-3 activity was determined. b The effect of triptolide on cisplatin-induced caspase-3 activation in CRL5810 and CRL5922 lung tumor cells. The cells were treated with triptolide (1 ng/ml), cisplatin (5 μM), or a combination of both triptolide (1 ng/ml) and cisplatin (5 μM) for 26 h and caspase-3 activity was determined. The caspase-3 activity was determined using the Ac-DEVD-AMC as a substrate and measured as nmol AMC/min/mg protein. The p value <0.01 was considered statistically significant in this study (*p value < 0.01; **p value < 0.001)
